Neoregelia bromeliads are stunning tropical plants known for their colorful rosettes and solid leaves. Ranging in shades of red, pink, green, and purple, they bring a unique flare to terrariums, vivariums, and tropical displays.
These epiphytic plants naturally collect water in the "cups" between their leaves, creating tiny pools. This unique feature makes these plants a favorite for dart frog enclosures, where the cups provide hydration sources, breeding sites, and safe retreats for frogs and other small inhabitants. Their sturdy leaves and compact growth make them both functional and beautiful within a planted setup.
Care guidelines:
Experience: Beginner - Intermediate
Soil: Airy, well-draining soil. Alternatively, they can be bare-root and attached to decor!
Water: Allow the soil to dry out fully between waterings. The central "cup" of the plant should always hold water, it is recommended to replace this water every few days to prevent fungal/bacterial growth.
Light: Prefers high lighting for a healthier, more vibrant plant.
Suitable for tropical terrariums or indoors as a houseplant!
Note: For use in a bioactive vivarium it is highly suggested to remove all soil from the plant's roots and throughly (but gently) wash the plant before placing it in your enclosure. Do not use the current soil in your enclosure.
